The name of JESUS in English comes from this word in the original Greek text of the New Testament – ΙΗΣΟΥΣ.

Every letter of the Greek alphabet has a numeric value. ΙΗΣΟΥΣ adds up to 888.

The first chapter of the Bible (Genesis 1) has 434 words in the original Hebrew text (see Gen 1). The last chapter of the Bible (Revelation 22) has 454 words in the original Greek text (see Rev 22). 434 + 454 = 888.

Jesus said: “I am the First and the Last” (Rev 1:17 and 22:13).

888 words in the first and last chapters of the Bible. Numeric value of His name 888. And the Bible says that JESUS is the Word (John 1:1).

In the original Hebrew text of the Old Testament ישראל is Israel. ישראל has a numeric value of 541.

In Greek, Israel is ΙΣΡΑΗΛ. The first mention of ΙΣΡΑΗΛ in the New Testament is at Matthew 2:6. ΙΣΡΑΗΛ is the 541st word in the original Greek text of the New Testament.

And, by the way, 541 is the 100th prime number.

Also, Israel committed to obey the Law of Moses. There are 613 commandments in the Law. To find righteousness through the Law, Jews must obey all 613 commandments without fail (Deut 6:25).

Only Jesus, the Jewish Messiah, has accomplished that.

Jesus told a parable of the pearl of great price (Matt 13:45-46). The one finding the pearl forsakes everything to gain it. It is a picture of coming in to Christ.

Jesus obeyed all 613 commandments in the Law.

The word for the pearl in the original Greek text is ΜΑΡΓΑΡΙΤΗΝ. It has a numeric value of 613.

In Christ the Law is fulfilled.
